GERRARDS Cross earned a 1-1 draw with Henley 2nds in the latest round of matches in the Cressex Summer Hockey League last week.

Cross went on the attack straight after half time and were rewarded when Sally Buckley put them in front with her strike.

But the Cross celebrations were shortlived as Henley hit back almost immediately when Christine Fleming fired home from the edge of the circle.

Elsewhere, Marlow B finished on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline against Windsor 2nds.

Had the Marlow keeper not made several good saves early on, it could have been more.

Windsor eventually broke through, as they had threatened to do, when Julia Perry finished off her run down the right with a strike that beat the overworked Marlow custodian.

They doubled their advantage after the break when Kim Beckett's strike was helped into the back of the Marlow net after a deflection off a defender.

Despite several late forays into the Windsor half, Marlow couldn't pull a goal back.

Chess Valley also had a 2-0 win, over Maidenhead 2nds, in the final match of the evening.

Maidenhead went one down after a penalty corner struck a defender's foot on the line and Vicky Bendle scored from the resulting penalty stroke.

Janet Orchard added another with a fiercely struck penalty corner, which gave the keeper no chance, before Chess missed several good opportunites late.
