COMPANY boss Glenn Draper has hit out at police for taking 24 hours to arrive after vandals struck at his property.

Mr Draper called High Wycombe police after youths were seen trespassing and causing around £200 damage to a new housing site two weeks ago.

But he was appalled when he called the police at around 6.30pm and officers took 24 hours to arrive.

The managing director of Linkturn (UK) Limited said the company had just finished building the five houses in Deangarden Rise, High Wycombe.

He said: "I phoned up the police last week when it happened at around 6.30pm but they turned up 24 hours later when the vandals had gone. It's ridiculous."

He felt so strongly that he has written a letter to High Wycombe Police which says: 'Not only do I consider a delay of 24 hours completely unsatisfactory but to attend the site when the youngsters are obviously at school is completely ineffectual'.

He said: "Short of drafting in security guards there is nothing we can do. But I don't see why we should do this when the police station is only just over a mile away."

Kate Spark, spokesman for Chiltern Vale Police, said: "We are sorry Mr Draper was unhappy with the service he received.

"We take all calls from members of the public very seriously and accept that incidents such as criminal damage and other anti-social behaviour do have a derogatory effect on the community and local businesses.

"However, as Mr Draper does point out, police resources are not finite we need to prioritise them constantly and match them to demand. We are looking into this matter and Mr Draper will be contacted by an officer in the next few days."
