THE final curtain will fall at Wycombe Arts Centre at the end of the month after its temporary extension runs out.

A partnership between local business Ubiquitous Promotions and dedicated volunteers has kept the centre running with the support of Wycombe District Council since 1998 when it was granted an extension by the council.

Volunteers are busy trying to find alternative places to cater for the many artists and college graduates after the centre closes on May 31.

Thousands of enthusiasts were attracted to the arts activity venue every month and workshops and class leaders are being helped to find other venues.

A spokesman for Wycombe District Council said: "We would like to thank all the volunteers and the group for their professional and committed support in helping to keep the centre open this long.

"We are sad to see the centre close but intend to continue to support and sustain the work and creative activity through the Arts Development Office in the future."
