VANDALS left a trail of human faeces, urine and obscene graffiti after breaking into a school.

Intruders smeared excrement on furniture, urinated over floors and scrawled obscene language on the walls with gold spray paint at Holy Trinity School, Wethered Road, Marlow.

Windows were also smashed and furniture destroyed in the attack overnight on Sunday.

Headteacher David Cousins said on Monday morning: "Staff don't want to sit on furniture in the staffroom anymore because its been deliberately defecated on.

"All the children have been very shocked."

He added: "It's a big clean-up job and will probably cost us a few thousand pounds to repair. They found a can of spray paint left over from Christmas and used it to scrawl on the walls short monsyllabic words beginning with "f"."

It is believed that the vandals scaled the eight-foot fence around the building and tried smashing several windows covered with a protective film. They are thought to have found an unprotected window and smashed it using a brick.

Mr Cousins said he believed the vandals had inside knowledge of the building, home to 260 pupils, saying: "They knew just how to get in. They dragged tables on to the roof. It was just mindless vandalism."

Parents of children at the school have described the attack as "sick".

Jackie Smith, whose daughter Rebecca is a pupil, said: "I just think it's very sad. All the children were able to read the slogans written on the walls. I think they are all shocked by it."

Debbie Jackson, whose 11-year-old daughter Hannah is also a pupil at the school, said: "It is very very sad. I feel very sorry for the teachers and the headmaster."
