SCHOOLBOYS Stephen Ridgley and Daniel Priest must wait to discover if they have qualified for the national final after they finished fifth and ninth respectively in the London West district final of the GHS ten mile time trial championship on Saturday.
The High Wycombe clubmates, who are in their first year of racing, both produced personal bests in windy conditions on the A4 course at Woolhampton.
Ridgley, 15, finished in 26.55 minutes while 14-year-old Priest clocked 29.35 in the under-17 event.
The pair now face an anxious wait while times from the other 20 races nationwide come in to see if they will go through to the national final in September.
Elsewhere, Wycombe senior Peter Lightfoot finished 12th out of 120 riders at Reading Cycling Club's open 25-mile time trial.
In other events, veteran Peter Beckley won the club's 30 mile championship on Sunday. He covered the course from West Wycombe to Thame and back in 1hr 16mins 35 secs to take the Firth Trophy from second placed Dave Molesworth.
Dave Johnson missed the race to compete in the North Bucks Road Club's 50-mile time trial where he finished second.
