BRAVE walkers Nick and Angela Symondson walked 26 miles for a breast cancer charity.

The couple, from Holly Green Lane, Bledlow, raised more than £3,000 by walking the night-time marathon distance in London on May 12.

People in the event, Walk the Walk, sponsored by Playtex, had to wear bras during the journey, including the men.

Mr Symondson, 52, was one of 350 men to accompany 8,000 women on the walk, which started at Battersea Park at midnight.

Mr Symondson, who wore a bra with pom-poms and tassels, said: "It was good. For the first couple of hours, we were cheered on by crowds of people and the hooting of horns from passing cars, lorries and taxis."

He added that he was even complemented on his breasts by a police constable.

But it was not all fun for the couple with the walk turning into a hobble.

"I have to admit the last seven miles or so were nothing short of agony," Mr Symondson said.

"We were both utterly exhausted and my feet felt as if I had walked across burning hot coals."

It was Mr Symondson's first attempt at the walk with his wife Angela, 53, completing the distance last year with one of their daughters.

But both made it to the end, crossing the line at 8.43am. Money raised goes to breast cancer charity Breakthrough for research.
