SCANNAPPEAL has launched a new appeal to raise £300,000 for a new scanning centre for women.
The charity started with a £12,500 donation from Liz Helling from The Paperchain Partnership and will be putting the money towards an early pregnancy assessment unit and gynaecological equipment to scan women from South Bucks.
It is hoped once the target is achieved that women will have a one stop service and may be able to receive consultation, scan and surgery in one or two days.
The £12,500 donation was raised from recycled toner cartridges collected from businesses all over the county.
The donor said: "We are delighted to be able to help Scannappeal in this way and also prevent huge amounts of toxic waste and non biodegradable materials finding their way into the atmosphere.
"We hope that many more people will support this scheme in future."
