THAME United Football Club needed a last minute equaliser from Mark West to keep their first division promotion hopes bubbling.
He popped up in the nick of time to hand United a promotion lifeline against a well-organised Bromley who looked unrecognisable from the side that had suffered a seven-goal mauling in the Kent Senior Cup semi-final at the hands of Dover Athletic only 48 hours earlier.
Thame fell behind after a gaffe from teenage keeper Chris Brain a minute before the interval.
He was penalised for handling outside his area and was punished when John Myatt's freekick to the far post was thumped home by Dean Forbes.
Bromley had chances to kill Thame off before West pulled it out of the fire.
Thame, who once held a 13-point lead, are now fourth in the table, eight points adrift of leaders Boreham Wood but still very much in touch with second placed Braintree and third-placed Bedford who are on a 71-point tie, one point ahead of Thame.
Thame will hope to leapfrog them when they go to Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday night.
