HIGH Wycombe Cricket Club had to settle for a share of the spoils with Berkshire rivals Slough in their Home Counties Division One clash on Saturday.

Wycombe got off to a steady start, with Jason Harrison and Matt Eyles putting on 35 for the first wicket, before Eyles was dismissed.

Paul Sawyer joined Harrison and both played freely, before Harrison was out for 31, with the score on 76.

Jamie Benning and Sawyer then produced two superb innings which took the score to 189 before Benning was given out, caught behind for a professional 40.

Sawyer's superb innings came to an end for 97 in the chase for quick runs while trying to make a declaration.

Wycombe declared at 227 for five from only 57 overs.

High Wycombe welcomed the return of Adam Cole who opened the bowling and was soon into his rhythm, conceding only 16 runs from his opening spell of nine overs.

Jerard Travaglia made the early inroads into Slough's batting taking the first three wickets.

And when Tim Scriven chipped in with the fourth wicket, Slough found themselves reeling at 69 for four from 27 overs.

Naylor (57) and Fazal (59) chanced their arms and played some aggressive shots, with the ball often dropping just out of reach of the fielders.

However, both of the batsmen's luck ran out in the space of three overs when they played one shot too many.

This left the home side needing 60 runs from ten overs with four wickets left.

Wycombe left the game open with attacking field placements and using both spinners until the end.

But with ten required from seven balls and only one wicket left, Slough played out for the draw, in order to secure three extra points, which could prove vital for them at the end of the season.
