THE new mayor of Beaconsfield, Nico Sacchetti, saiys he is looking forward to serving the town to the best of his ability.

Cllr Sacchetti was named as mayor at the town council's annual general meeting last Wednesday.

In his opening speech to the council he said: "I would like to thank my predecessor Malcolm Dunlop for all his great efforts.

"I will try very hard to carry on his work."

Cllr Sacchetti has been an Independent town councillor for two years and represents the West Ward of the town.

He has lived in Beaconsfield since 1983 and formerly owned a family restaurant in New Denham.

He added: "I am both privileged and honoured to be elected as town mayor and I am looking forward to serving all the people of Beaconsfield to the best of my ability.

"During my mayoral year, I hope to be able to bring about improvements to the cleanliness of Beaconsfield."

Cllr Graham Smith (Con, North Ward) was elected as deputy mayor of the town.
