MOTORISTS watched in horror as they drove past a blazing lorry on the M40.
It swerved off the London bound carriageway on to the hard shoulder as it burst into flames on Tuesday at 2pm.
The driver managed to escape his burning vehicle and call the emergency services, before the lorry was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from High Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Watlington fought the blaze between junction five and four.
The lorry was made safe 36 minutes later after crews used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus. There will be an investigation into the cause of the fire.
