I WAS saddened to read George Foden (BFP, June 22) has lost confidence in the Beaconsfield Town Council because of a statement made by our deputy mayor which is contrary to the declared position of town councillors regarding the Sainsbury's application for an extension.
It was a personal opinion which he is entitled to make but does not reflect the opinion of the other councillors.
The objections raised by the town council did have the interests of the town and its community in mind; for instance: the siting of the new access very close to a residential house; the noise impact would be impossible to live with fortunately this has been moved slightly.
The car-deck: residents in Garvin Avenue are very much affected by this concrete block at the bottom of their garden.
The visual impact in Maxwell Road. We did object to other parts of the application such as the restaurant.
I would like to assure Mr Foden the town council will always have the interests of our town in mind.
We cannot please everybody all the time of course but we try.
