A LACK of cash need not get in the way of talented sporting youngsters thanks to the Mayor of High Wycombe Nigel Vickery's Mayoral Appeal.

His Kids into Sport Scheme will see ambitious children, both disabled and able-bodied, being awarded grants to help them out with their chosen sport.

Flyers will be sent out to all High Wycombe schools and already plans are underway for a whole host of fundraising events to take place during the Mayor's term.

"I believe that if we can get kids into sport we can channel their energy positively which will in turn serve to prevent them getting into trouble," said Cllr Vickery.

"We will help in a number of ways like if a child wanted to get to a club but their parents could not take them then we will lay on transport or if a child cannot afford some kit we will try to organise it for them."

A spectacular bonfire night at Terriers, a barbecue, a golf day and tenpin bowling fun are among fundraisers in the pipeline.

Hopes are high for a murder mystery night and vintage motor cycle rally.

Teachers and youth club leaders are being asked to nominate children they feel would benefit from the scheme.
