ENERGETIC pupils jumped in at the deep end to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Children from St Mary's School in School Lane, Amersham, have supported the cause for more than 20 years, and raised £1,500 through a sponsored swim.

The school also raised an additional £1,000 for the Foundation through a 'jump rope' skipping sponsorship, as well as further awards for the Sunshine Fund for the Blind, for their school in Northwood and for the Toybox charity and the Children's society.

Roy Durrant, headteacher at the school, said: "It is just so nice to see the children raise the money, which will benefit so many people. The money for the British Heart foundation will enrich people's lives including the young, who have heart defects and the old, who have pacemakers.

"I am very proud of them, and it was good to see how much effort they put into raising the money. Through their hard work and determination they got good results."
