OUT-GOING skipper Steve Lynch says Beaconsfield must bounce back from being whacked all around the ground by Banbury's record-breaking openers last week by beating Radlett at home tomorrow.

Beaconsfield's fielders were made to look like nothing more than unwilling ballboys last week as Craig Haupt and Andrew Sabin smashed record after record, putting on 312 for the first wicket in 59.3 overs.

Haupt hammered out 27 fours and two sixes as he raced to 200 not out off 206 balls to set the highest-ever score in the Premier League's short history.

At the other end of the crease, Sabin made 101 off 156 balls as Becky's five county bowlers were given a pasting.

The batting duo shattered their own Home Counties record partnership score of 220 which they set against Luton Town last year before declaring at 312 for nought.

To their credit, Beaconsfield fought back to secure a draw at 209 for six in their first game under new skipper Scottish international Alistair Storie.

The 35-year-old former Warwickshire and Northants player has succeeded Lynch who decided to relinquish the captaincy after hitting his own half century of birthdays.

Lynch, who made his Bucks over-50s debut against Middlesex on Wednesday, said: "I thought it was time to hand over to a younger man. I didn't want to be in a position where I was only playing because I'm the captain. I want to carry on playing but only if I'm picked on merit."

Lynch was delighted Storie's side held on for a draw last week but says they must win tomorrow after drawing their opening two games.

He said: "We need to get a win to get the confidence going because it is going to be a tough season. All the teams seem to have improved their sides and if you said we could match last season's fourth place I would take that right now because I think the league will be stronger this year."

Local rivals High Wycombe began the season with loftier aspirations but, after claiming the maximum 25 points from an opening day win against Luton, they came a cropper last week against fellow 100 per centers Finchampstead.

The high-flying Finches embarrassed them on their own London Road wicket, bowling them all out for 79 to win by 115 runs.

Wycombe looked to be in a winning position when they dismissed the Finches for 194, thanks to Tim Scriven's six wickets for 81.

Even though they lost an early wicket, they remained confident of winning the run chase when Jason Harrison (23) and Jamie Benning (20) took the score to 49, before Benning was run out in a mix-up.

That signalled a major collapse and the next four overs saw four wickets tumble with the addition of just three runs.

At 52 for six, Wycombe tried to bat out the remaining 28 overs for a draw but it was beyond them and Finchamstead wrapped up the victory with three overs remaining.

Tomorrow, High Wycombe have home advantage again when Reading are the visitors to London Road.

Second Division table-toppers Amersham will be bidding to maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the season tomorrow with victory over visiting Falkland.

The Shardeloes side claimed their second successive 25 points last week with a 21-run victory over Tring Park last weekend.

They rattled off 197 for nine before dismissing Tring for 176.

Amersham were helped to their 197 with a knock of 60 from John Atkins, but it was the impressive bowling of Mustapha Rajabali which really stole the show. He took five wickets for just 45 runs to stun the Tring batsmen.

Amersham stay top of the division level on points with Oxford, who visit Marlow tomorrow.

The Bucks side chalked up their first win of the campaign last Saturday when they beat basement team Wolverton Town by 69 runs to claim their first 25 points.

Marlow raced to 235 for five with Graham Paskins (72) and Troy Robertson (64) providing the mainstay of the innings.

That total proved too much for Wolverton, who have yet to win this season.

They finished 166 all out, with Marlow's Stone collecting five wickets for just 25 runs to leave them reeling.
