WANDERERS Cup stars admit the one thing they fear most is losing manager Lawrie Sanchez to a top club.

The players are convinced that their semi-final boss will follow previous Adams Park bosses Martin O'Neill and John Gregory into the big time before he has achieved all they want him to achieve at Adams Park.

Skipper Keith Ryan said: "He is creating a really good name for himself. He has proved he is a very good manager and good managers tend to end up at the top level. And that's the last thing we need."

Wanderers have already turned down an approach from Queens Park Rangers for their miracle working boss this season and he has also been linked with the vacancy at Premiership Southampton.

Midfielder Steve Brown, 34, said: "It is just a matter of times before he goes. I think he will be gone in the next 12 months. He will be wanted by quite a few clubs who will have seen what a fantastic job he has done here.

"He has created something special at Wycombe and we all know he will manage in the Premiership.

"There is something very special about him. He has instilled such tremendous self belief in all of us. I'm just sorry he came along so late in my career."

Goalkeeper Martin Taylor echoed Brown's fears.

"We're worried we might lose him after what he has achieved with us in such a short time.

"Managers are just like players. They want to get to the highest level they can and I'm sure bigger sides have taken note of what Lawrie has done."
