PUPILS in Pitt House at Wycombe Abbey School have sent a cow to Africa.
The 45 girls decided to adopt Send a Cow as their charity of the year in September.
The House Community Concern Representative, 17-year old Jenny Hudson said: "I looked on the internet and found various charities. Then I put posters up and people voted for what charities people wanted to support. Send a Cow was a clear winner.
The British-based charity works with local communities to send livestock to farmers in East Africa.
So far Pitt House has raised more than £1,000. The money will buy a cow, two goats and a pig.
The girls raised money by selling crisps and sweets to pupils.
Tesco and Wren Davies Dairies made donations to help get their appeal under way with donations of £250.
She added that the cow, already in Uganda, was named Jenny by the girls.
"I do not know yet what we will call the other animals", she said.
