THE Rotary Club of High Wycombe is inviting pedal pushers to join a bike ride around Buckinghamshire to raise cash for charity.

The event, organised by The Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of High Wycombe, takes cyclists for a tour through the county's beauty spots on Sunday.

Last year more than 380 cyclists made over £17,800 for various charities including the sea Cadets, High Wycombe Scannappeal and the South Bucks Hospice.

Brian Webb, a member of The Rotary club, said: "At the moment we have in excess of a hundred riders and we always get some more on the day.

"It is £10 on the day, as people come for the bike ride and don't have sponsorship, but that is fine."

There is a choice of a 30 or 50 mile ride with the start at The Rye in High Wycombe, at the swimming pool from about 8am and 10am.

The journey will take cyclists through Hughenden Valley, Butlers Cross and Bledlow, and will finish back at The Rye at 3pm.

Even if you do not complete the ride in record breaking time, every successful rider will come away with a certificate of achievement.

Rotarians have also organised their own bike challenge in France on May 28 to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

They will cycle 420 miles to St Andre de Cubzac, near Bordeaux, and hope to arrive there on June 1.

There will be a team of five cyclists aiming to raise more than £5,500 for a vital signs monitor.
