A TEENAGER has been locked up for two years for committing a £7,000 burglary in Jordans.

Aylesbury Crown Court heard how 19-year-old Leon MacCaulay ransacked the house in Jordans Lane before escaping with a stash of jewellery which included many items of great sentimental value to the owners.

MacCaulay, of Deptford in London, used the home owners' ladder to break in while they were out.

He was later linked to the crime after his finger prints were found on a window frame, the court heard.

MacCaulay pleaded guilty at the hearing on Thursday.

The burglary, said Lynn Tayton, prosecuting, happened on September 2 last year. MacCaulay was committed for sentencing by Wycombe magistrates on April 12.

MacCaulay had previous findings of guilt and was currently serving 21 months detention imposed at Guildford Crown Court in January for a series of other burglaries.

Paul Levy, defending, told the court the defendant previously had a drug problem which he was trying to combat.

Judge Daniel Rodwell QC imposed two years detention in a Young Offenders Institute for the burglary.
