YOUR article on June 15 about the High Wycombe Society's suggested light rail (tram) line between Bourne End and High Wycombe railway stations was so confused as to be nonsense.

The society is not against this busway (or any other). Our concern is that the county council's plan for a busway between London Road (Spring Gardens) and the main railway station, would block a future way for the tram.

We have overcome this difficulty by designing a new bridge which would cross Gordon Road beside the existing brick arch railway viaduct. This would only be for the joint use of the buses and trams, with all other traffic using Gordon Road beneath, as at present.

We have also suggested that the two side arches of the brick viaduct are cleared of vegetation and used by pedestrians and cyclists, instead of the dangerous restricted space beneath the middle one.

We have given Bucks County Council drawings of our bridges and road layout, but they refuse to discuss anything with us, preferring to pursue their own half-baked expensive plans.

However, the society's report Clogged Commuter Corridors, which is now being made public, is also available on the High Wycombe Society's website. We hope this will cause a response from those interested. We also have a diagram of the tramway.
