THE mother of a disabled boy has spoken of her gratitude for the outstanding kindness shown to her by a baby store.

Sylvia Booker, 28, an ex-police officer and mother of nine-month-old Samuel, of Stag Lane, Great Kingshill, was moved by the treatment she received from Mothercare employees, after her son was born with severe cerebral palsy.

Doctors diagnosed the condition after Samuel spent six weeks in the special care baby unit at Wycombe Hospital after suffering brain damage during delivery on September 3.

Mrs Booker said when doctors told her Samuel had extra needs, she needed to change all the equipment bought from the store in High Wycombe's Octagon Centre, prior to his birth.

She said staff replaced an entire baby kit worth hundreds of pounds, even though it had been used for a couple of months before Samuel's condition developed.

Mrs Booker said after a few months she needed more compatible equipment for her son.

She went back to the store and was overwhelmed at the kindness staff showed her.

"They spent an entire half day with us, listening and advising on our options and exchanged the buggy and car seat, even though we had used them for a few months.

"They kitted us out with everything including extra lining and material to ensure Samuel is as comfortable as possible and didn't charge us a penny extra. It was incredible well above and beyond what one would expect.

"After everything, one less problem to worry about makes a huge difference to our peace of mind.

"It was a massive shock but he is a little miracle. We love him dearly and can't imagine life without him."
