I SHARE in the anger that Mr Flower has shown in the article in Midweek (re fenced off land around Grange Farm, Hazlemere) but it's a shame he did not go further.

At the end of October last year hundreds of metres of hedgerows were ripped up causing devastation to the bird population. This, I was told, was footpath maintenance.

Then the fences appeared, which made a nonsense of the footpath work as they are a long way from the fences except at one stretch where trimming may have been necessary but was not carried out.

Instead larger ruts and areas of mud have appeared making some of the footpaths unusable, or dangerous when the weather conditions we have just experienced covered up the large voids.

Is this the response of a corporate company's anger at the devastation of the footpaths?

Surely, they should be trying to plan an environmentally friendly area which would please the local community, not flexing their muscle and doing what they please.

To gain access to the area they used a footpath by the school.

Did this not tell them that to try to build a large number of houses would cause problems?

It is hard enough now to travel round the area during a busy period and so building more houses will only cause a gridlock situation on a daily basis.
