YOU can win £100 cash in a prize draw if you can suggest three ways of improving High Wycombe town centre.

The unusual idea is part of a community safety showcase being held in High Wycombe today to try to get the views of business representatives and residents.

The initiative is being jointly organised by Thames Valley Police and Wycombe District Council in a bid to improve the town centre.

Town centre sergeant, John Blankenback, said: "This is a great opportunity for local people to get involved and have their say on the future of the town centre.

"There has been a great deal of positive change in the town centre during the past few years. For our part, we have been delighted at the reduction in crime, particularly autocrime."

Representatives from the police, council, Bucks Fire and Rescue and Neighbourhood Watch will be also be present at the community showcase.

Wycombe district councillor Ted Collins (Labour, Booker and Castlefield), said he hoped the idea would work although he said it seemed a bit 'odd'.

He added: "Perhaps first prize should be a bobby outside your door for a weekend like the Prime Minister has at number ten."

The community safety showcase takes place at the Guildhall, High Street, High Wycombe, between 10am and 4pm today and tomorrow.
