ANGRY Kevin Scougall has criticised the county council for failing to repair a road which has collapsed into a river.

Mr Scougall, of Holtspur Avenue, Wooburn Green, says the hole in Glory Mill Lane has now increased to around 20ft in diameter. He is worried about the danger to children who are walking to school around the gap.

Mr Scougall said: "I see kids walking next to it every day, it's an accident waiting to happen."

The road collapsed into the river last month and since then it has been cordoned-off. Highways bosses at Buckinghamshire County Council said the collapse was due to heavy rainfall but Mr Scougall has other ideas.

Mr Scougal explained: "The reason was because the retaining wall at the side of the road has been knocked down. That's why it collapsed not because of a bit of rain."

He added that JCBs are continuing to use the road and that it is making the hole worse.

Mr Scougall said: "Nobody seems to be interested at all and the council are making no effort to do something about it. It's a dangerous situation and I wouldn't like to see anybody hurt."

Richard Burton, press officer for the council, said: "The situation is that there is basically quite a bit of subsidence and it got worse because people are continuing to drive over the road.

"Concrete bollards are going to be put across the road because it's making the situation much worse until a permanent solution can be found. They should be going up any day now."
