HUNDREDS of pounds have flooded in to an appeal to support the five children who lost their mothers in High Wycombe's tragic lorry crash.

Now the Star is asking readers to support the trust fund for the children that was launched by its sister paper, the Free Press, on Friday.

Maggie Doel, 48, and Sally Jamieson, 40, were killed when a lorry appeared to lose control on Amersham Hill and ploughed through the front of Aitchisons estate agents in Easton Street, High Wycombe, on June 14.

The funerals of both Sally, of Stokenchurch, and Maggie, of Lacey Green, were held this week at Amersham Crematorium.

Aitchisons asked the Free Press to take the lead in setting up a fund to benefit the victims' children and since the accident many people have contributed money or agreed to help. The money will be divided between Maggie's children, Gary, 22, Mark, 20, and Tim, 15, and Sally's children, Benjamin, four and Joshua, two.

Alex Johnson, chairman of organisers of the Wycombe Half Marathon, has agreed to make the trust fund the marathon's chosen charity. He said: "We will suggest to people who have not got a charity to run for this cause."

Sponsorship forms for those who would like to take part in the marathon on behalf of the fund will appear in tomorrow's Free Press or can be downloaded from the Free Press website.

Annie Shepperd, who won LWT's Stars in their Eyes performing as a member of the 60s band The Seekers, is also joining in the fundraising effort. She has offered to sing at a charity fundraising event in High Wycombe.

Anyone wishing to make a donation should make it out to 'Doel and Jamieson Fund, Ref MNE' and sent it to James Clements, Bucks Free Press, Gomm Road, High Wycombe, HP13 7DW.
