A NEW category has been added to this year's Windrush 2001 Achievement Awards organised by Elaine Sihera, managing director of AnSer House of Marlow, and editor of New IMPACT Journal.

The awards, now in their third year, celebrate the contribution of minority groups to the social, economic and cultural life of the UK.

This year internet and technology has been added to the categories of education, media, small business and uniformed services, which have been especially targeted to increase ethnic minority representation within those fields.

Mrs Sihera said: "So far we have had some fantastic winners of the last two awards and I am hoping many more visible minorities will come forward to be publicly recognised for their achievements at this prestigious event."

The 2001 Windrush Awards will be presented at a black tie event at the Dorchester Hotel, London on June 21.

Closing date for entries is May 11.
