MEMBERS of the Women's Institute will enjoy a slap-up lunch against a musical background of a male voice choir as they celebrate their 75th anniversary.
Women of Penn and Tylers Green branch of the WI are busy getting ready for their big day on June 14, when more than 40 members and ex-members will gather in Tylers Green Village Hall.
Joan Gardner, 77, press secretary for Tylers Green branch has been busy sending out letters to all of her old colleagues.
"It will be a wonderful day and so exciting to meet up with everyone," she said.
"It's so interesting to think how much the Institute has changed even since I joined here in Tylers Green."
Treasurer Doreen Palmer will delight the party-goers when she produces her own home-made super birthday cake.
Mrs Gardner is disappointed with the drop in numbers of women visiting the Institute.
She remembers the days when membership was double what it is now.
She said: "There is an idea that we are all 'Jam and Jerusalem' and not many people know that we have quite an active voice when it comes to bringing issues to the attention of the Government."
