SIX-YEAR-OLD Georgina Mason is celebrating coming top in a national drawing competition.

Georgina, a pupil at St Paul's Combined School, Wooburn Green, was one of more than 6,000 children who entered the Today's Engineers Help Us Every Day competition and was selected as one of 50 finalists.

Judges awarded her drawing a highly commended prize of a certificate and a wall clock.

The competition challenged children to draw or paint a picture showing how engineers were important in their lives.

School head Ruth Goddard said Georgina got the idea after visiting the Royal Navy's helicopter rescue base, RNAS Culdrose, in Cornwall.

She added: "She is a very artistic and talented little girl."

The competition was sponsored by 16 engineering organisations, including the Institute of Marine Engineers and the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
