PRESTWOOD Junior School's cricket team were crowned county champions in the Lord's Taverners Cricket Tournament last week.

The youngsters, who won their area championship earlier in the season, continued their success to win at county level in the event contested by 33 other schools.

They now go on to the regional final, which will involve other county winners throughout the south east, which will be held at Wellington College in Berkshire on July 5.

In the county competition, Prestwood scored 352 runs in their six matches, while conceding just 109. They lost 14 wickets but took 39.

The Prestwood team was: Daniel Bull (c), Charlotte Cockle, David Pearce, Sam Curtis, Thomas Stoner, Robert Mariconda, Oliver Richards, Ricky Gardiner, Andrew Nayler and Rebecca Stubbings. They were coached by Matt Deans.
