COMMUNITY-MINDED Sir Bernard Chacksfield has had a special book dedicated in his memory at the church where he served as a warden.

The memorial book will be displayed in a case at St Mark's Church to commemorate past members of the congregation so that their memory will live on.

The Rev John Sclater said that a ceremony was held at the church, in Station Road, Bourne End, on April 29 on St Mark's Day. He added that Sir Bernard had always remembered members of the congregation during his life time and this was a way of ensuring they would never be forgotten.

Mr Sclater said: "Sir Bernard was a man who was always taking the lead in the community.

"He was one that remembered everyone and made sure they would not be forgotten."

Sir Bernard was churchwarden at St Mark's Church and was also the founder chairman of the Friends of St Mark's, who gave the book to the church.
