CHESHAM United lifted the Berks and Bucks Cup on Monday for the first time in eight years after a 1-0 win over Ryman Premier Division rivals Maidenhead United.
In a ill-tempered affair at Slough Town's Wexham Park Stadium, the Generals secured victory with a second half penalty from captain Brian Statham.
But it was scant reward for all the possession and chances Chesham had enjoyed throughout the 90 minutes, which saw seven bookings shared between the two sides.
An 800-strong crowd saw Statham slam away a 56th minute penalty, the result of Kelechi Duru being brought down by Obinna Ulasi after he was put through by Dudley Campbell's cheeky backheel.
Ulasi's clumsy challenge and Duru's delight at seeing the referee point to the spot sparked a mass brawl before Statham decided matters from the spot.
Campbell looked on course to double Chesham's advantage five minutes from the end when he ghosted in at the far post behind two defenders before running round keeper Richard Barnard and blasting goalwards. But Chesham old boy Lewis Craker raced in to spectacularly clear the effort off the line.
But Chesham had done enough and they lifted the silverware to complete a good season, which saw them finish fifth in the league.
