TEENAGER Colin White is putting the fizz into TV advertising after being picked from hundreds of hopefuls to star in a commercial for a new soft drink by the Coca-Cola company.

Colin, 16, of Marlow, is currently appearing on our small screens to publicise the new fruit drink Alive. The advert had its first showing on May 7.

In the energetic sequence, Colin is seen in one of six themed scenarios which highlight what teen perceptions are all about.

His theme is Alive is Nature's Special FX and he is shown in a control room ordering different effects like bolts of lightning.

Colin, who attends Furze Platt School in Maidenhead, says: "When I came out of the audition, I was thinking 'I could have done this better or that better' but it felt really good when I was told I'd got the part.

"It's a game of chance, really, and I was probably a bit lucky but I am hoping to pursue a career as an actor when I leave school.

"Filming the Alive ad was a really good experience. My family is 100 per cent behind me."

The drink is available in two flavours, Tropical Torrent and Orange Cascade, but Colin hasn't tasted the fruity drink himself yet.

"I haven't actually seen the advert the whole of the way through yet and I haven't even tried the drink, so I don't know what it tastes like."

Colin has been with Jackie Palmer Stage School for about six years and has appeared in televsion programmes including Next of Kin, No Sweat and Grange Hill.

Away from school and the screen, Colin is also keen on reading, skiing and getting together regularly with the Sea Cadets which is his main interest.

"It's great to do acting work because you do something different every day," he explains. "I have now done TV, theatre and advertising work and I'm really enjoying it.

"But I don't get too big headed about getting on TV because I've got four sisters who sort me out or tell me I'm ugly regularly to keep my feet on the ground."
