HGV drivers could be banned from using a quiet residential road as a short cut after residents said they were fed up with congestion.
The county council is looking to put a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on Elizabeth Avenue, Little Chalfont, as lorries have been using the road as a cut-through to bypass the centre of Little Chalfont to get to Amersham.
Residents have contacted the council as they say they cannot leave their cars in the road as it gets congested and they are concerned for parents and children who use the school in Bell Lane.
However, lorries over 14ft 9in high will still use the road as they are unable to fit underneath the railway bridge at Chalfont Station Road, Little Chalfont.
Paul Wigman, of Elizabeth Avenue, said: "I think the lorries should go another way if they are too big to fit underneath the bridge. They should go down the M40. I know it will be extra mileage for the companies but it will be worth it.
"However I am very pleased and hopefully they can turn it back into what it was in the past a quiet road."
A spokesman for Bucks County Council said: "The county council has looked at complaints by a number of residents in the area and has taken this on board with the view there should be a weight restriction of 7.5 tonnes to restrict the amount of heavy vehicles."
He said vehicles over 14ft 9in would still need to use the road.
