CHILTERN Pools is back with a splash with a new flume and updated facilities after a six month makeover.

The new improvements will be on show on Wednesday at the centre in Nicol Road, Chalfont St Peter. It will include a new look for the main pool and a 'shark attack' flume which is a fast, twisting ride.

Cllr David Meacock (Con, Gold Hill, Chalfont St Peter) said: "I haven't seen the facilities yet, but I'm with everyone to say it's great to see the facilities are back for the public."

It was hoped the pools would re-open at the start of 2001 but as the project progressed more work was needed to ensure the refurbishment was safe for years to come.

This mainly concerned difficulties with sticking tiles around the main pool.

A spokesman for Chiltern Leisure Trust and Chiltern District Council said: "Delays in reopening were the last thing any of us wanted, but the trust and the council were advised that the extra work should be undertaken now, rather than the situation being left to deteriorate."
