BEN Townsend is a doubtful starter for this weekend's Bank Holiday double header.

The teenage right back pulled his hamstring in the 1-0 reversal at Cambridge on Boxing Day and is almost certain to miss tomorrow's trip to Northampton and the visit of league leaders Millwall on New Year's Day. Both matches kick off at 3pm.

His absence should hand Mark Rogers, who came on for him at Cambridge, another chance to lay claim to the right back berth he has lost in recent weeks.

Manager Lawrie Sanchez will demand a huge improvement for the two New Year Games after a disappointing Christmas which saw Blues reach the halfway point of the season in ninth place.

He said: "I keep asking myself whether we have come as far as we can with this group of players.

"The back four and the goalkeeper have performed brilliantly for us but the rest of them need to liven themselves up."

He added: "We were poor in the second half against Swansea last Saturday and we carried on with another poor performance at Cambridge.

"We've put the pressure on ourselves and can now expect a battle royal in these next two games."

Wanderers travel to Sixfields Stadium tomorrow looking to complete the double over a fast-improving Cobblers side who have taken maximum festive points so far with victories over Peterborough and in-form Bristol City on Boxing Day.

Wanderers beat Northampton 1-0 at Adams Park in August with a penalty from former Cobbler Steve Brown.

Then on Monday, Wycombe entertain fellow holiday 100 per centers in the shape of league leaders Millwall.

The Lions won 2-1 at Bournemouth and then followed up with a 6-1 stuffing of Colchester United on Boxing Day.

But Wycombe have the Indian sign on the South London side. Wanderers knocked them out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 replay victory at Adams Park just ten days ago and also won by the same score in the league at The Den in August.
