ROADS around the Memorial Centre and East Common will be closed for a time on Sunday when the Gerrards Cross Fun Run takes place, and also the car park at the centre will be out of action. The 5K event is primarily raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust but runners will also be helping other favourite charities. It starts at noon. Children's races come under the starter on the Common at 1.30pm, and go on until 4pm. THE Gerrards Cross Community Association is holding an open evening next Friday for all newcomers who have moved into the area in the past couple of years or so. Many of the Memorial Centre associations will be staging displays of their activities between 7pm, and 9pm and refreshments will be available.

FULMER'S annual parish meeting takes place on Tuesday at 8pm in the village hall.

THE Gerrards Cross Conservative Association is holding a plant and cake sale between 10.30am and 2pm at Faversham Meadow in Mumfords Lane, on Wednesday. This is one of the rare opportunities this year to visit the spectacular garden as Mr and Mrs Try have opted out of opening their 16th century home for the National Gardens Scheme.

TED Mason, a retired schoolteacher, entertains members of the Probus Club on Wednesday morning with a talk entitled Papyrus to Polypropylene or the History of Rope Making. The group meets at St James's Church Hall at 10.30am.

AGM of the Methodist's Women's Evening Fellowship group takes place on Wednesday at Oak End Way church. After the formalities, Noreen Baker will give a talk about her voluntary work.

THE coach taking the Gerrards Cross Concert-goers Group to the Barbican will leave the Memorial Centre promptly at 5.45pm on Sunday. The music lovers are off to London for conductor Kent Nagano and pianist Markus Groh's performance of Shostakovich's Symphony No 4 and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 4.

ANNUAL luncheon of the Gerrards Cross Flower Club goes ahead on Wednesday. Guest this year is Jane Rowton Lee who will give a demonstration on When All The Woods Are Still.

THE Book Fair opens its door at 10am on Saturday. Refreshments are available.

AFTER a break this week, it is business as normal when the Careers Springboard gets together on Monday evening at St Andrew's Church in Packhorse Road. David Tennant will discuss Interview Techniques with club members.
