DARREN Currie was back training with Barnet as his on-off transfer to Wycombe Wanderers took a new twist.

The 26-year-old winger had been expecting to train with Wanderers but found himself back at Underhill instead with no end in sight to the problem.

The two clubs have agreed a £200,000 fee, the player has passed his medical and agreed terms but the deal is being held up by complications at the Barnet end.

It is believed the delay is centred around money Currie is allegedly owed.

The problem first emerged on Thursday and Wanderers boss Lawrie Sanchez was confident that it would be ironed out over the weekend.

But there has been no headway and although Wanderers and Barnet are both convinced the deal will go through it is taking longer than they thought.

Blues secretary Keith Allen said: "There is nothing we can do to expediate the situation. The ball now is in someone else's court. We've done nothing wrong we have just got to wait until it is sorted out and Darren is training back at Barnet because he's a Barnet player until the ink is dry."

A spokesman for Barnet said: "I'm sure the deal will go through. It is just a question of when."

Meanwhile as Currie was missing from the club's RAF Halton pre-season training base, Jermaine McSporran is set to return.

He spent the first two days of pre-season training wrapped up in cotton wool following his cruciate injury but physio Dave Jones is now ready to unleash him.

Jason Cousins' testimonial season starts on Thursday with a cricket match at High Wycombe Cricket Club on the London Road.

Cousins and his Blues team-mates will swap sports to play alongside ex-England and county players, although Mike Gatting has pulled out.

The action starts at 5.30pm and admission is £2.
