PARENTS and dog walkers were left outraged after vandals scattered glass all over play equipment and grass in a park.

Sharp shards were left around the Tylers Green recreation ground on Friday and Saturday night .

Parents taking their children to the park in Ashley Drive were left picking up remains of glass bottles.

Diane Haworth, assistant clerk at Chepping Wycombe Parish Council, which owns the land, said that it is an on-going problem.

She added: "This isn't the first time it has happened and it is not an easy problem to cure. It tends to be youngsters who think nothing of having a drink and smashing the bottles for fun.

"I have no doubt they think it is great fun but it makes life difficult for everyone else. We do have people who go round cleaning the mess up and someone has been out there."

She said that they have three staff who look after their parks and inspect them twice a week but two are off sick at the moment.

A father-of-one, and regular dog-walker in the park, said: "Parents and people walking their dogs on a nice sunny day ended up picking the glass up. It's an absolute nuisance. I don't know what these youngsters get up to drinking until all hours. It's appalling. They'd obviously scattered the glass on play equipment on purpose which is disgusting. What's achieved?"

A police spokesman said the incident had not been reported to them.
