AN angry resident has blasted the county council for failing to improve the poor state of some roads in her area.

Andrea Cattaruzza, of Stratford Drive, Wooburn, believes the roads are below standard around Bourne End, Wooburn Green and Burnham, with the worst road being Dropmore Road, near Wooburn Common, which goes from Dropmore City First School, to Burnham.

She said: "For several months now, we have been left with wide and deep scratches in the surface, roughness and holes that make the road uncomfortable and pretty unsafe."

Ms Cattaruzza added: "With the recent floodings, the situation is made even worse by stagnating water.

"Every morning, I see cars trying to avoid these holesby driving in the middle of the road and risking an accident with the opposite traffic.

"I really do not understand why such an evident danger for the drivers is left for several months without appropriate actions."

Ms Cattaruzza emailed Buckinghamshire County Council on April 5 about the problems with the roads and again on May 9 after she failed to get a reply.

She said she has not had an acknowledgement from the second email, though a pothole she complained about has been filled in.

A spokesman for the county council said on Wednesday: "This work has been earmarked for structual repairs of potholes and resurfacing and should be done by the end of this week."

He added: "We are also involved in ongoing resurfacing in the whole of the south Buckinghamshire area."
