CHILTERN Cheetahs produced a thrilling comeback to sink Plymouth Admirals and claim their first win of the season.

They pulled back 16 unanswered points in a dramatic fourth quarter to snatch a stunning 22-21 victory.

They went into the last period of play staring down the barrel of a defeat at 21-6 down, but it was Chiltern who came out all guns blazing to produce one of the greatest comebacks in their history.

Nick Rockell began the fightback when he knocked the ball from quarterback Hardlands' grasp and Frank Mayo picked the ball up and ran 78 yards to score six points, which became eight when Kris Stephens added the extras.

The momentum now switched to Chiltern and with completions to Peek and Stephens they moved the ball downfield where Stephens completed the drive, running in from eight yards to put Chiltern on the brink of victory.

That win came when Sutling found Peek in the end zone and he scored the two points to complete the amazing turnaround.

Even then, Plymouth had one last chance to regain the lead but Rockell's timely interception made sure that Chiltern held on to claim their first win of the campaign.

Earlier a Chiltern win had looked impossible as the Devon side took a strong hold on affairs.

They opened the scoring from their first possession when Chris Stenson touched down and they extended their lead to 13-0 when Tom Wilding-Webb scored and Jon Wyse kicked the conversion.

Chiltern pulled themselves together in the second quarter and Brendan Peek cut the deficit to 13-6 at half time only for Plymouth to pull away in the third quarter and put themselves into a match winning position which they couldn't hold onto.

Chiltern are back in action on Sunday when they are at home to the Oxford Saints, (ko 2.30pm).
