AMBITIOUS computer engineers could earn around £100, 000 by enrolling on a new Internet technology course.

Amersham and Wycombe College is introducing courses in Cisco networking equipment. The college says a recent study predicted there would be 1,633,000 networking positions in Europe by 2002 but only 1,033,000 skilled applicants to fill them.

To meet this demand, the college is running part-time Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) courses at its High Wycombe campus in Flackwell Heath from January 9. It adds that CCNA accredited students can earn approximately £25,000 per year, and in excess of £100,000 if they continue their Internet training.

Kevin Howell, 30, of High Wycombe, has worked in Europe, China, America and the Caribbean doing installations since completing the CCNA qualification at London in 1999.

He said: "The course is very interesting with good theory training and also practical lab exercises."
