CHILDREN will be ditching their school uniforms for something blue today to help contribute towards the Maplewood Hydrotherapy Pool Appeal.

Pupils at Chalfont St Giles Middle School, in Parsonage Road, Chalfont St Giles, have chosen to do their bit for the appeal by paying £1 to dress in blue for Blue Day an event set up by pool organisers.

Amersham and Wycombe College, in Stanley Hill, Amersham, will also be going all out on the colour theme to help the appeal.

Maplewood School, in Cressex Road, High Wycombe, needs to raise £500,000 for a hydrotherapy pool for the new school site in Downley, High Wycombe.

Pupils at the school have both sensory and physical disabilities, as well as learning difficulties, and the hydrotherapy pool will help the more physically disabled students experience movement.

Now appeal organisers have arranged a golf tournament to reach their target. Teams of four are invited to take part for £35 which includes the golf, a barbecue and a disco.

Tickets for the disco and BBQ only cost £10. There are also lots of celebrity goodies up for grabs, including a signed Wycombe Wanderers' ball and Maplewood Appeal T-shirts signed by Sir Steven Redgrave and Lorraine Kelly, patron of the charity.

To take part in the golf tournament contact Hazel Howe on 01494 875021. To donate money, send a cheque or postal order made payable to Maplewood Pool Fund to reporter Kelly Clayton, The Star, Gomm Road, High Wycombe, Bucks HP13 7DW.
