MEDIAEVAL sword fights and martial arts displays are a few of the attractions that will delight past pupils and teachers of King's Wood Infant School as part of its fiftieth anniversary celebrations.

The well-mannered children pictured are believed to be the first pupils at the Totteridge Lane School, High Wycombe, snapped between September 1950 and July 1951.

Mrs Clement Atley, wife of then Prime Minister Clement Atley, officially opened the school on January 1952, which was the first purpose built flagship school in Buckinghamshire after the war.

Cllr David Cox, ex-chairman of Wycombe District Council, and his wife who met while teaching at the school, will take part in the fun-filled day.

A barbecue, children's fancy dress, a steam ride and a demonstration by martial arts experts from the Steve Cowley Academy will make up the attractions for the event.

Jane Hobart, PTA secretary said: "We would like everyone who has been connected with the school in the past to come along and meet up with old friends. It will be interesting for them to see how the school has changed and reminisce about old times over some of the photographic displays. If some of the first pupils at the school turned up it would really make for an even better time."

The reunion marquee will be held at the fete on Saturday June 9, between midday and 3pm.
