A FORMER heroin addict went on a two-month stealing spree to help pay for his drug-addiction, a court heard.

Nassim Hakim, 35, of Longland Way, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court, on Wednesday to stealing two cases of champagne belonging to Fuller, Smith and Thorne on April 20.

Hakim also admitted stealing a laptop computer belonging to Rudolf Heaf on April 26 and to stealing a hold-all and contents belonging to Anne Taylor between May 31 and June 3.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking after unlawfully taking an Austin Metro during the same dates and driving it dangerously around the streets of High Wycombe.

Hakim also admitted driving without insurance and asked for 34 other offences to be taken into consideration.

Paul Wakerley, defending, said Hakim had "an extremely long history" of offending but had battled since his teens against heroin addiction.

He said: "For the first time that I can remember, he has got a job and a grip on his life."

Judge Terence Maher adjourned sentence for four weeks for pre-sentence and medical reports. Judge Maher allowed Hakim conditional bail with a £2,500 surety, an 8pm to 7am curfew and a condition of residence. Hakim must also report to High Wycombe Police Station three times a week.
