THE penultimate week of the Cressex Astroturf Six-A-Side League saw CBF's lead at the top of the table by two points after being held to a surprise draw by mid-tablers Toys-R-Us.

They are now just two points ahead of second place Wycombe Town.

With both teams having just two game remaining, this year's league title will be a fight to the finish, decided on the final week of the campaign.

Despite having to play five gruelling games last Tuesday, Toys-R-Us showed no signs of fatigue.

It took them a while to settle in after falling 3-1 to Hithercroft but from then on they went all out.

In what was a slow start to their second game against Velo Royals the pace eventually hotted up when a superb strike by Masters put the Toys in front.

But their lead was short-lived when a good retaliation shot from Burrows evened things up.

Not to be out-done, McLaughlin sneaked one in on the stroke of half time to give the Toys the advantage.

The second half opened with Velo Royals struggling to get possession as the Toys took total control and it was just a matter of time before Goodhall and a further strike from Masters gave the Toys a 4-1 win.

It looked as though Chalfont 87 had the edge over the Toys during the opening five minutes of their third match which saw them being forced more and more into defence.

However, a complete turnaround occurred when Barber caught Chalfont napping and put the Toys one ahead. This gave them the encouragement they needed and shortly after Goodhall put them 2-0 ahead at half time.

In the opening minutes of the second half, a one-on-one confrontation with Chalfont's goalkeeper saw Masters slide one in to put them three ahead. A good retaliation from Chalfont followed when Tilbury and Ellis made it 3-2 but their hopes were diminished when yet again Masters took the game 4-2 for the Toys.

A walkover followed when they took second-from-bottom Daniel Williams by an almighty 6-1 with Barber scoring four, followed by one apiece from McLaughlin and Masters.

The final match of the evening against table-toppers CBF was the surprise of the evening. It was odds on that CBF would take the match after Neptune put them 1-0 ahead.

Despite having played four previous matches the Toys looked as fresh as they did during their opening match. Despite trailing 1-0, sheer determination paid off when Masters' seventh goal of the evening evened the score during the second half. Despite a lot of pressure from CBF they managed successfully to hold on to a 1-1 draw.

Toys-R-Us move up to 12th position on 43 points.

In other matches, Wycombe Hermits came charging back into the top eight qualifying positions after gaining maximum points from their three games last week.

Starting off with two goals from Hawes and another from Page they had a decisive 3-0 win over Marlow Tornadoes FC.

It was more of the same during the second match when, yet again, Hawes got a double, followed by Faraday's first two of the week to take Tornado FC 4-1 with Hamilton scoring the only goal for the Tornadoes.

Their full house came when a hat-trick from Hawes sunk a disillusioned Dreem Team 3-0.

That result practically put paid to them qualifying for this year's final. The Hermits move up to seventh position.

MCS have a struggle on their hands next week after dropping out of the qualifying positions to ninth.

With just two games remaining they must win both to stand any chance of making it to the league's big finals day.
