MAY I challenge your use of the word "expert" on the Marlow Free Press front page, sub-heading "Pound Lane Baffles Experts", referring to the ongoing water saga?

Without being impertinent, baffled 'experts' seems a contradiction in terms. The Dutch used available expertise to reclaim land from the sea. When problems were encountered lifting the London Eye, experts solved them, etc.

I would suggest it is the local residents who are "baffled", when, despite the recent drop in water levels, not even an exploratory procedure appears to have been instigated.

Furthermore, as the council have admitted they don't know the source of the problem and as no in-depth site investigation has yet taken place, how can they categorically dismiss any responsibility by Cable and Wireless?

With the loss of nine months amenities, it's time for "fire brigade" action. Apathy is no longer acceptable.

If the job is too challenging for the unnamed experts, then help must be sought from further afield, but please, not another council meeting after which residents are informed that there isn't enough money available, a pump may be installed to assist drainage, a daily tanker will take away some of the water etc winter is not far off, and if a concentrated effort is not made to ascertain and solve the problem, a fleet of tankers may be required daily!!
