A WOMAN is trying to track down relatives of a soldier who was killed in action in 1945 to tell them more about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Betty Forrester, of Ross-shire, lost fiance Sgt Alexander Young when he died in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium towards the end of the Second World War.
He was killed alongside two other young men, one of whom was from High Wycombe.
His name is Sgt Edwards of the 61st Reconnaissance Regiment who was killed on January 4, 1945.
"My whole life I have been trying to find out more about the circumstances surrounding my fiance's death but like many others I found it was incredibly difficult to piece everything together," said Mrs Forrester.
Three years ago Mrs Forrester travelled to Hutton Cemetery, in the Ardennes, where her fiance and many other soldiers are buried.
It was here she learned about Sgt Edwards and she felt compelled to track down his family.
"It was a very emotional visit but I gathered a lot of information and met a lot of war veterans," she said.
"I've spent so long trying to find out more and it would be nice to share what I have learned with others in a similar position."
