DISGRUNTLED Gaynor Toye has called for more speed restriction signs to be put up on the A40 West Wycombe Road after she was fined for speeding.
The 37-year-old mother-of-three, of Mentmore Close, Booker, said she is appalled that there are not regular signs to inform drivers of the 30mph speed limit, after she was issued with a £60 fine and three points last week for travelling at 40mph.
Mrs Toye, a housewife, said she always makes a point of sticking to the speed limit.
She said she usually has her three children in her car with her and obviously would not put them at risk.
She said: "At no point on this stretch of road is there a sign saying 30mph, and if we are to believe that the speed camera is there as a deterrent and not a money-maker, then why are there not signs to tell anyone what the limit is?
"I cannot be the only one who thinks it is 40mph."
Mrs Toye said: " I know that ignorance is no defence but how is one supposed to just automatically know the speed limits on main roads? I was just going with the flow of traffic.
"Had there been a school or anything then I would have guessed the speed limit was less but to my limited knowledge there is not and without any signs to the difference I thought I was OK.
"If I achieve nothing other than getting some signs put in place I will be happy."
A spokesman for Buckinghamshire County Council said: "We feel that this is a built up stretch of road and it has street lighting, and so is in a 30mph restricted area.
"There is no issue there of money making [from the speed cameras] but we will look into the possibility of putting up further signing.
"The key thing is that it is a built up area and its inference is that it is a 30mph limit."
