PLANS for a fully-monitored CCTV system could be under threat if cash for running costs can't be found.

Adrian Busby, chairman of Beaconsfield Chamber of Commerce, is confident the scheme will go ahead but said it could be under threat if the high costs of maintaining a fully-monitored system could not be met.

Each camera costs between £2,500 and £3,000 per year to run, and Mr Busby is considering ways of funding including asking businesses to sponsor cameras.

He said: "I'm confident we will find a way through it. We will get the installation started by the end of the summer."

The chamber's application for £250,000 from the government was turned down in April.
