SOUTH Bucks has never before been under such great pressure from urban areas seeking to expand, planning motorway service stations and an intercontinental freight line.
The very heart of our rural land is threatened with development from all sides.
Crime is a major problem because Thames Valley Police are grossly under-resourced.
Since the last general election we have far fewer officers. We were promised more.
No wonder we have the worst policing record in Britain.
Our proximity to Slough, to which at weekends all available policing is drawn to deal with drink and drug related hooliganism and crimes, meeans some villages experiencing crime waves at vulnerable times.
It is essential our villages benefit from more visible policing support we can rely on even during the weekend demands of urban areas.
Since becoming a parish councillor I realise how vigilant we must be to ensure nothing gets passed that could become a precedent or cause potential problems.
